Cool, but this is only true because she is white. If she were a person of color, she would still see art reaffirming that beauty is a plump white woman. This has good intentions, but it’s only reaffirming an age old myth that views on women’s bodies were somehow better in the past. That is not at all true. It is only recently in human history that people started even recognizing that women in general should have authority over their bodies, let alone WoC or queer women. Just because the women in old painting reveal plumpness as an ideal doesn’t mean that those ideals were in any way body positive or in favor of women. They are still sexually objectifying women and upholding the idea that there should be an ideal. As a fat woman, I don’t relate at all to the woman in this illustration.
Also: The title of the painting she is so longingly looking at is titled “The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus.” It is a painting depicting the rape of of two women.
